“Don Walin’s engrossing memoir, THE CRAZY GOLF PRO, is a well-written and poignant memoir about living with bipolar disorder and the high toll mental illness takes on family and friends.” – Rob Errera for IndieReader.
An eye-opening read into the struggles of dealing with mental illness
As the author Don Walin mentioned, ‘anyone can acquire a mental illness’. An eye-opening read into the struggles of dealing with mental illness and how depression can be caused by a chemical imbalance and not always psychological. Sheds a new light as I’ve always wondered how and why people become depressed. Love Don’s honesty in describing his journey through this and am glad he found his true love Elli who not only saved him from sinking further into his illness but is now his soulmate in life. Having the right mix of medication (and a good doctor) is very important in addition to the love and support of family and friends.
Highly educational story on mental illness
Don’s been a friend of mine for over 40 years and as well as I know him and everything he has shared with me about his challenges with Bi Polar and his other mental illnesses OCD and SAD, reading his book was extremely revealing to the challenges he has had to endure and how he continues to manage it daily.
I found this to be a highly educational story on mental illness and he provides the reader with much more awareness, compassion and understanding for those who live with these difficult challenges.
Don’s writing style and sincerity in wanting to share his story as an advocate of mental health makes this book a very worthwhile read.
His humour and positive approach envelope the storyline and therefore makes the book more enjoyable to read. Humour in itself can be a life saver as Don has benefited from, and shares with all his readers.
